Hi everyone & welcome ...I hope you're all having a great day :)
This month I will be playing with October Afternoon's "Public Library" collection....and as the name suggests, it includes lots of papers & embellishments that would be suitable for layouts on books, reading, visits to the library, etc etc....BUT, it also would be suitable for creating any theme of layout besides these, which I hope to show over the coming weeks.
My first layout is themed on the great library that is situated in
Trinity College in Dublin, known as......
"The Longroom"
(my layout is based on the Scrap Around The World Sept Mood Board)
I have picked out papers that had neutral/brown tones to tie in with the colours in the photo of this REALLY old library...which is predominantly brown timbers, and I've added a few tiny bits of red & mustard to help add a few pops of colour.
The background piece is the "Reference Section" paper, and I've added some texture work, stamping & splashes of a few different coloured mists. I've used 2 different techniques of stamping....one using Kaisercraft Tiny Dots stamp, and the second technique of using a piece of scrunched up gladwrap, dabbing on some ink then giving it a light squirt with water, (from an old glimmermist bottle that I have filled with water) and then randomly dabbing it around the page. Using mists sprayed on to the gladwrap, rather than ink & water, would work just as well.
This is the "Reference Section" background piece that I've used.....
............And I've extended onto the square/rectangle pieces that are already on the paper, by cutting out other "bits" from various papers, such as "Children's Section" & "Library Card" and layering them in under my photo. There's also a few of the "TidBits" diecuts in there too.
I've added some Green Tara & Kaisercraft flowers, along with some Public Library "Tid Bits" diecuts, 2Crafty Gears, a button & some BG brads from my stash
The title is AC Thickers, and Studio Calico alpha stickers....and there's also some more 2Crafty chipboard - Filmstrip, at both sides of the photo & paper layers.
Above & below is a bit of a close up of the background stamping & stencilling.
The red strip in under the photo is one of the border stickers, that comes with about 10 or so others, and they're 12" long :) I've cut it into 2 pieces to be able to stretch it out so that it extends further across the page.....so there is no border strip in under the cluster area.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing the possibilities for this great collection - don't let the name of the collection make you think that you can only create "Library" layouts with it....it has so many pretty papers that would be suitable for any themed layout :)
Until next time....happy scrapping! xx
