My Minds Eye Now & Then "Mildred" by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

This week I am sharing a couple of pages created using the beautiful My Minds Eye Now & Then Mildred collection. I created these two layouts for a class I taught at All About Scrapbooks monthly crop day, which is held in Sydney. You can find the details of the crop days here.

My first layout is Hello Princess:

I love the gold papers and embellishments in this range, and used these to highlight my page.
As my background paper is a very busy floral print, I have used plainer pattern papers around the photo and just a few well place embellishments.

The 2Crafty chipboard frame has been sprayed in Heidi Swapp Colorshine in Gold to make it nice and sparkly and draw the focus to my photo.

Close-up of embellishments and another view of the frame:

 And my second page: Dancer

For this layout I have used the same papers used in my Hello Princess layout but created a different look by using a plain backround and masking using gold gelatos mixed with water to create a softer design.

Once again I have used the ColorShine to spray the title a lovely gold. I love how gorgeous it is with the softer pinks and greens in this range. I have finished off with some soft pink and white flowers, a veneer frame and flair button.

Thanks for visiting the blog today,

Till next time

Kaisercraft Storyteller - By Linda Eggleton

Hi everyone & welcome to the blog today :)

I have a couple of layouts to share using the beautiful Kaisercraft Storyteller collection,
which I really LOVE!  Again, Kaisercraft have come up with another great
collection...the colours & patterns are just gorgeous & so very versatile.

First up is this layout that I've created using the
Scrap Around The World May moodboard as my inspiration.

"Cherish"

Ive gone for something with clean straight lines for this one, and I've kept the background as
is - the patterns are just gorgeous, so I didn't want to go changing them.

I've added some machine stitching down the edges of 2 of the paper layers...and gone for a black & white photo as the colours in the photo clashed with the colours of the papers.

I've clustered a few Manor House & Kaisercraft flowers, with some Collectables diecuts & a piece of 2Crafty Heidi's vine that I've cut up & then coloured with Gelatos.

I've also used small pieces of Jillibean Soup lattice placemat in under my photo layers.
I've randomly cut the edges of the lattice so that it wasn't neat straight lines.

Another cluster of Manor House & Kaisercraft flowers....along with a canvas heart that I cut using a Dienamics heart die & a piece of canvas from a canvas pad I picked up at one of the cheap shops...I've then coloured it with gelatos.

I also matted the photo onto a piece of brown Storyteller paper (Anecdote) to help it pop off the rest of the paper layers. This is something I haven't done in quite a while, yet is also something that I found really difficult to break the habit of doing years ago.

"The 12 Apostles"

I have purposely picked out the gorgeous blue papers from this collection
to help co-ordinate with my photo of the 12 Apostles, and the fact that there is a
little hint of a golden yellow there on the main background piece was an added bonus
to tie in with the colours in the photo.

I created a border on my page using the floral side of the History paper....marking the corners where the top confession paper would sit, then I cut out the centre of the History paper making sure to leave plenty of room inside the markings I made, so that there is enough area to adhere the top Confession paper.  I then machine stitched around the inside of the Confession paper.

I've added some paper blooms, collectables diecuts & some pearl flourishes to create my main cluster....and there's also a Green Tara flower in there as well.

And another smaller cluster of the same products

My title using a mix of AC Thickers....and again I've used the Jillibean Soup lattice placemat in behind my photo....this time keeping it with nice straight lines.  I also slightly & randomly coloured the lattice piece using wheatfields glimmermist, by dipping a small brush into the bottle & lightly brushing it over the placemat piece.

And here is an overall view of the main area of the page.

Thanks so much for dropping by today...I hope you have enjoyed your visit :)

Basic Grey Mon Ami - by Fiona Johnstone

Hi Everyone

This week I am working with the delightful Basic Grey Mon Ami collection. A beautiful collection of papers, with a fabulous Paris theme which would be great for holiday layout.  But it also has some plainer prints and these cute rainy day papes which inspired todays layout.

You make me Happy when Skies are Grey:

My title is from the new release of 2Crafty Chipboard, which will be in store soon!! I have used inks and gelatos to colour it and then a bit of distress crackle paint to highlight parts.

I have used two different papers from the Mon Ami range to create the background. The city skyline I have fussy cut along the buildings and the used the raindrop paper for the sky. I have added some stickers from the elements sticker sheet to enhance the rain imagery.

I've finished my layout off with some petaloo flowers, some veneer leaves that have been lightly inked, some enamel shapes and dots:

Thanks for visiting today, hope you've been inspired.

Till next week
Fiona

Crate paper "The Pier" - By Linda Eggleton

Hi everyone & happy Friday to you all...another weekend is almost here :)))

Today I have another layout to share using "The Pier" collection from Crate Paper.
As the name suggests, they would be the perfect photos for pier, carnival, fair, or
show type photos, but today my layout is about neither.....It is an outdoorsy one from
one of our holidays down on The Great Ocean Road - which shows the great versatility
 of this collection.

"Take a walk on the wild side"
Based on the Scrap Africa May sketch

I've used the gorgeous woodgrain side of the Heatwave paper for my base, with a bit of background work using a stencil with some modelling paste, some stamping & some watered down gelato shavings splashed around here & there.

For the title I've used a mix of AC Thickers & some Studio Calico woodgrain alpha stickers.
I've also used some more 2Crafty Chevron Bits that have been coated in gesso and then painted with a watered down mix of gelatos to give a bit of a whitewash effect.

Cluster of mixed flowers, Flutterby Designs flair, stickers from The Pier Borders & Labels sticker sheet, with more of the chevron bits....and also some strip journaling layered across the 2Crafty Circle Revolution Frame.

The frame has been coloured in the same way as the chevron bits - first coated in gesso, then a very light rub over with a red gelato...and finished off by blending the colour out with a
wet brush to get coverage over the frame.

And here is a close up of the main area of the page.

Thanks so much for dropping by today....enjoy the rest of your day & the coming weekend :)

Kaisercraft Mister Fox - by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

A brand new month - May already, can you believe it? - and a brand new month means brand new goodies to play with! This month I have Kaisercrafts Mister Fox collection to create with.

I have created two layouts using this range for you this month, and both of these
 will be available as kits!

First up, Love Life:

In both of todays layouts, I have used the collectibles pack to make my title.
Lots of great words to choos from in this collection.

The papers I've torn and gone a bit grungy to go with the earthy tones in the paper
and the neutrals in my photo.

I have also run with the lattice theme, using a Jillibean Placemat to mimic the paper.
I have very lightly inked the placemat using a worn out black ink pad, then I have
used various pieces of Mister Fox papers to mat behind the placemat.

A close up of my embellishments, love the film reels and the barcodes, so fun!

And my second share today, is the layout Cherish:

I've kept with clean lines on this page, but used the oranges and greens with the floral prints and added some flowers for this family layout.
Again, lots of layering of the collectibles, and the use of the word Cherish for the title.

The top paper strip quote "this is one crazy family" has come from the bottom piece of one of the papers - always check these before you discard them!!

A close up of the title from the collectibles pack, and my flowers, which I have grunged up with a bit of black ink:

And finishing with a close up of the other side, simple journaling tag, flower and bit of chipboard:

Thanks for stopping by
Till next week

Crate Paper "The Pier" - By Linda Eggleton

Hi everyone, and welcome to another Friday share :)

This month I am creating with  Crate Paper "The Pier" collection....which is filled with a variety
of  coloured & patterned papers which would suit any style of layout.

My first layout for the month is
"The Carousel"
based on the Scrap365 May sketch.

I have added a bit of background work onto the yellow Popcorn paper...using a Teresa Collins stencil (a list of products with links is at the bottom of my post) with some modelling paste that I coloured with some shavings from my gelatos, some Kaisercraft & Prima stamping
and some flicks of glimmermist.

The modelling paste that I used mixed with the gelato shavings is the same mixture that I used on my "2 of a kind" layout using Teresa Collins Daily stories last month.  At the time of mixing it up, I had mixed way too much, and decided to leave it in the plastic cup I had mixed it in (you know, the throw away type plastic cups) and cover it in alfoil with a rubber band around the very top of the cup to try to keep it as air tight as I could.....with the intention of using it up on some other backgrounds the same weekend.  Well, that just didn't happen...and when I was creating this layout, I was really surprised to find that the modelling paste was still ok and hadn't dried up...not one little bit!

Soooooo, I thought this was a really handy tip to share.....just keep any leftover colour mixed modelling paste covered up as best you can, and even 2 or 3 weeks later, it will still be good to go :)

Anyways...on with some close ups

I've used a mix of flowers for my cluster, along with some 2Crafty chipboard - Sharon's Butterflies & some Chevron Bits - yep, I am still using the same pack from a few months ago! As well as a Flutterby Flair button - I absolutely LOVE these buttons <3

How perfect is this Carousel ride ticket?!
I have cut it out from the "Splash" paper, which also has a heap of other tag, word & strip pieces on it.  The dotted strip above the piece of ric rac is also from the "Splash" paper.
Here you can also see one of the cute little camera wood veneers from Studio Calico...finished off with a KC rhinestone in the centre.

I have swiped some gesso over the 2Crafty chevrons...and added a few paper clips &
a brad above the photo, as well as a little tab sticker from the sticker sheet.

Title using some AC thickers and also some woodgrain alpha stickers from Studio Calico.
And the big red pin dropper is from the Pier collection sticker sheet.
The ric rac is years old & is from my stash - love that I've been able to use it with this collection :)

A close up of the background work.  The pink bits are using the Teresa Collins stencil (these are still available in store & are great value - 3 stencils for $6.99!!! - see link below), stamping with KC Numbers stamp & some flicks & drops of Denim Blue & Viva Pink glimmermists.

And here's an overall view of the main area of the page.  Pics are of the gorgeous old carousel at Luna Park in St Kilda...from a trip to Melbourne a few years ago.

I also have a few cards to share.
I could NOT do something with the leftovers from last months Honey Chai & Daily Stories papers, as I really enjoyed working with both of these collections, so I decided to make a few cards and thought I'd share them with you all .....

Using papers, stickers & diecut pieces from the Honey Chai collectables pack,
with a few added flowers.

And here's 2 more using Daily Stories

Both cards are using papers & stickers from Daily Stories...with a few sequins & enamel dots, plus a few flowers and some twine added to the first one.

Thanks so much for dropping by today ...until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Echo Park- That's My Boy by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Back today sharing my first layout of our new puppy Harry, using Echo Park That's My Boy range of papers. Lots of tradional boy colours, with a mix for younger and older kids - or in my case, boy puppy!

I've also used a 3x4 Sn@p card for my title. These cards are not just for Project Life style scrapping - they can look great on traditional layouts as well.

The kraft cardstock goes perfectly with Harry's colouring, but it was a little plain, so I added some splashes of  Dylusions ink and some stamping.

A close up of the Simple Stories 3x4 card as a title. I added the little paw print, it comes from the Simple Stories Sticker sheet that compliments the cards.

Also some splatter and stamping detail, finishing off with some enamel dots and a vellum embellishment.

The second close up, a sticker from the Echo Park range and a funky Jillibean Wooden Nickel.

  Thank you for stopping by,

Till next week
