Good Times layout by Rachel Lowe:

Happy Monday everyone.

Today I have a layout for you created with the new Jillibean Soup Mushroom Medley collection.

Now I am always in awe of how Fiona nearly always uses coloured photos and makes it work so beautifully, so I decided I would set myself the challenge of using a colour photo instead of converting them to black and white because it seems easier.

I adore this photo of my son and the colours went beautifully with my chosen papers from this collection. I chose my colour scheme at the beginning of my process and set aside all papers and embellishments so I knew what I had to work with.

The green woodgrain paper just had to be sewn on and it has created a lovely texture to the background. 'Busy' or patterned paper can be difficult to use as a base/background paper and this where you ensure the other papers that mat your photo provide contrast so everything doesn't get lost.

To keep to the design of this layout I have attached my 2Crafty 'good times' word title vertically. I went for painting it white as I decided I didn't want a stark contrast but a clean and fresh look which is in keeping with the layout.

I had to add the cute racoon, toad stool and feathers from the die cut sheet and although initially I wondered if they would work with my theme/photo I was pleased how they 'worked'.

Following the wood grain pattern on the paper I have sewn to add texture to the layout.

I have taken the wood grain die cut, added a die cut arrow and then a heart and sewn through the middle. I have also sewn on all my paper layers that mat my photo.

Thank you stopping by today, have a wonderful week and see you next Monday.
xXx
