Elf on the Shelf - By Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Today I have part of a series of 6 x8 layouts that form part of my first ever mini-album that I created for our Elf on the Shelf using a Simple Stories Sn@p Album and inserts.

For these pages I have predominantly used Simple Stories December Documented,  Echo Park Tis the Season and some Teresa Collins Santa's List papers and stickers.

This was our elf Peters first visit to us in 2012. As you can see he got up to a bit of mischief!!

I have kept the pages pretty simple, some paper layers, a few embellishments and the important little star that shows they day of each visit.

By using a couple of ranges together with the same colour theme (Red, Green, Silver, White and Black) I have tied the album all together, but each individual page also holds something suitable to the mischief Peter got up to. I have used some  OA Sasparilla stickers on the horseriding page.

The Christmassy words and all the little alpha stickers in the sticker sheets from the 3 ranges made it easy to co-ordinate the pages.

I have even kept the design similar with lots of banners throughout...

I have added a few flair badges and some sparklets to the pages but the pages are all fairly flat so they sit nicely in the mini album.

I hope you have enjoyed Peter's adventures and it has inspired you to create a mini-album of your own for your Elf on a Shelf or even a December Daily.  If you want to see the rest of the album it will be up on my blog this evening.

Till next time
Fiona

Simple Stories "I {heart} summer" - with Linda Eggleton

Hi there fellow scrappers....and welcome to 2014!

I hope everyone had a great time celebrating in the new year with family & friends.
Lets hope 2014 brings all that you hope for...and more!

Ok, on with some scrappy shares....a layout using Simple Stories - I {heart} summer collection.
And I have to say, this is such a fun collection to work with!  The colours/patterns & all the embelishment elements that come with this collection are just gorgeous!

"Summer Bliss"
(Based on sketch #106 at Sketchabilities)

I've used so many different pieces from the collection in this layout, and will point them out in the close ups below.  Pic is of hubby & I on our trip to The Great Ocean Road last summer....standing in front of the 12 Apostles.

Here you can see my cluster of Green Tara & Manor House flowers....as well as brads, a flair button & word stickers from the Expressions sticker sheet, all from the I {heart} summer collection.
(A list of products with links is listed at the bottom of my post)

For my title I've used alpha's from the Expressions sticker sheet and I've placed them onto a piece of PP cut into a banner shape with one of the 2Crafty film strips over the top - the film strip I've coloured using my Earl Grey Gelato randomly scribbled over it, then with a brush & a touch of water, I've then spread the colour evenly over the strip.

Some strip journaling....and more brads (there are so many in the Decorative Brads Pack that quite a few can be used on each layout!), and some more word stickers from the sticker sheet.

Here you can see one of the pieces from the Sn@p Cuts pack....which I cut in half & used at the top & bottom of my photo.  Plus some more word stickers & the "fun arrow" decorative brad.
You can also see some of the template work on the background using CW Stacked triangles template.

And lastly, one of the 3x4 cards cut out from the Card Elements paper to the left of my photo.  You can also now see the other piece of the Sn@p Cut at the top of the photo too.
The little dark grey arrrow triangles I simply cut from the coloured throwaway strip at the bottom of the paper & mounted on some leftover pieces of contrasting paper to give them more definition.

Well, that's all from me for today....just the one layout this time.
I hope you like what you see :)

Until next time....happy scrapping

Linda  xx

Echo Park - Beautiful Life by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Well as we get ready to say good-bye to another year, I hope you all
have an enjoyable New Years Eve night, enjoy and stay safe and we look forward
to inspiring you more in 2014.

Also just a reminder that our 25% off Sale ends tonight at midnight - so why not
grab a few bargains to start the New Year.

This week I have been playing with Echo Parks "Beautiful Life" range.
Such a pretty range of papers and embellishments, nice and bright.  I love the
butterflies in the range and these helped me determine what photo to
 use for my layout.

My background paper is from the Crate Paper Flea Market range, chosen for it
matching the mint in the photo and I have then layered the Echo park papers
and some vellum papers before using the Echo Park Element Stickers and a
variety of stickers and flowers to embellish the layout.
My title is a soon to be released 2Crafty chipboard design.

A couple of close ups of my embellishments, layered stickers and a cluster of
Green Tara flowers.

And a few more banners tucked under the right hand side, a butterfly and a
splattering of gesso on the background page.

Thanks for stopping by, till next time

Fiona

More Glitz "Sunshine in my soul" - with Linda Eggleton

Good morning everyone....how is everyone pulling up after Christmas?
I hope you all had a fabulous day filled with treasured memories :)

I'm back again today to share my last creations for December.
A layout using Glitz's gorgeous "Sunshine in my soul" collection
and a card  using some of my leftovers from the Kaisercraft "Key to my heart" collection.

So first up is the layout....

"Cliffs of Moher"

This really was a gorgeous collection to create with.  After starting with some template work on my base, using Prima Crackle stencil, I then based my layout on a sketch over at PageDrafts....but just added the random cut up circles from the 2 Crafty circular panel over my page.

Pic is of DH & I on our holiday in Ireland, with the Cliffs of Moher in the background.

Here is a close up of my main cluster...Manor House & Green Tara flowers, Flutterby Designs Flair button & stickers from the Alphabet & words sticker sheet...plus a few die cut leaves, all layered in around each other.

And another small cluster with Green Tara flowers & 2 Crafty chipboard, plus you get a good view here of the textured template work....using modelling paste & a Prima stencil, once I worked out where the papers etc were going to sit on my page.

Title using alpha stickers from the alphabet & Words sticker sheet....and some  journaling, straight onto the patterned paper this time! (a rarity for me)...plus you can see the 2 Crafty Shrub piece, where I've dabbed it with modelling paste, then coloured it with gelatos & lightly inked.

Here you can see a bit of a close up of the circles that I cut out from the centre of the 2 Crafty Circular panel that I used on my last DT layout....and for this layout, I've spread them randomly over the layout.  I first coated the circles in gesso, then roughly dabbed on some modelling paste to add some texture, and finished off the same as the shrub piece above

Now for the card...

"Welcome Olivia"

Not your traditional type of baby card....but I love it and so did my Niece who recently had her first baby <3

A bit of a close up of the main cluster...with a paper doily as the base, then layered on top are the hearts from the sticker sheet, a diecut butterfly from the Collectables pack, Manorhouse & Green Tara flowers, some die cut leaves....all treated with some Clear Rock Candy Stickles.

Thanks so much for dropping by today....and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you all in the new year.  Here's to a happy & creative 2014!

Cheers,
Linda

Kaisercraft Paradiso - by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

Hope you are all almost ready for Christmas!

Today I am sharing a layout using Kaisercrafts Paradiso Collection. It's not just for beachy photos, I have used it to scrap a layout from our trip to Switzerland! And there are no beaches there.

Kapellbrucke:

I love woodgrain background papers and the Kaisercraft Paradiso Sandy Toes paper is no exception, even better it already has some flowers and stamping alongside it as well as distressed edges.

To create my layout, I used a dry paintbrush to roughly apply some gesso to the background, then distressed the edges of the Kaisercraft Paradiso Tropical Bliss Paper and my photo, finishing off with some embellishments from the Kaisercraft Collectibles and  Basic Grey Carte Postale ranges.

A couple of close-ups:

The tearing and distressing as well as the lightly brushed on gesso, with a cluster of the collectibles embellishments running up the edge.

Some cute banners that come in the collectibles pack and a Basic Grey Carte Postale Metal Pin to finish off.

Thanks for stopping by, and wishing you all a most wonderful Christmas.
Till next time

Fiona

More Sunrise-Sunset from Prima - by Linda Eggleton

Good morning there crafters, and thanks for visiting today :)

I am back today to share more loveliness using Prima's Sunrise-Sunset collection.
I just love this collection!!! It is such a joy to work with such gorgeous papers, and the colours in it are just beautiful!

So here is my layout...based on the Once Upon a Sketch December challenge.

"One October Afternoon"

Lots of Manor House, Prima & Green Tara blooms & some fabulous 2crafty chipboard on this one. I just love that 2crafty circular panel (and I have some left over for my next project too!) and the summer leaf stem is gorgeous too.

Here's a bit of a close up of the circles, which I've simply coated in gesso and used it as a frame/base for my photo.  Also my title....and some of the background template work.

Main cluster of Manor House, Prima & Green Tara flowers....I love how all these flowers mix together so well :) There's also one of the Prima Vintage Mechanicals & 2crafty leaves tucked in there too.  The leaves have been coated in gesso & then coloured using my Gelatos (such fun!)
I added a bit of green to my background work to help tie it in with the colours of the photo... I love the outcome & the colour combo!

Another small cluster of mixed flowers & another vintage mechanical.

Some strip journaling (my fav!)...and more of the template work randomly done over the background.
I first used modelling paste with my CW template, then once it was dry, I sponged on some green gelato with an ink blending tool.

And here you get to look into the photo & hopefully get just a little taste of how amazing this place was - The Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland.....Isn't it spectacularl? I absolutely loved it!!

Ok that is all from me for now....until next time, happy scrapping!
And Merry Christmas to you all from the team here at All About Scrapbooks.

Crop Dates for 2014 and some new products

Morning all, hope this finds you well and getting ready for the
Big Man next week - definitely a mad house here.

I just wanted to pop by and let you know that for those of you in Sydney, that
attend our monthly Crop Days at Gymea, that the dates for these monthly
gatherings are listed under the Crop Days Tab, on the header above.

As I'm having a little break over Christmas and New Year, our first crop day back
will be the 8th February, so mark this in your diaries and I will put up a
Facebook Event in the New Year.

Now, for the card makers out there, I have some great new Sizzix dies, that not only
cut out and score the cards themselves, but have all the dies to cut all the intricate pieces
for the card faces as well.  These dies fit in both the Big Shot and the Cuttlebug and
will make card making a breeze - they come in a variety of different styles, and
here are a few I got in to try - they are selling well, so if your interested, you can find
them on-line here

Use the die set with the New Sizzix Magnetic Platforms for ease of cutting.

The Magnetic Platform makes creating easier with wafer-thin dies:
  • Allows perfect registration when cutting stamped or embossed designs and photos
  • Supports multiple dies at once for multiple cuts
  • Holds dies in place for precise windows on cards, bags and boxes
  • Designed with closely-aligned magnets for strongest attraction
  • Durable plastic material for years of use

If you'd like to see how it works, take a look at this video

Teresa Collins Santa's List - by Fiona Johnstone

Hello everyone

We are now into single digit figures till Christmas arrives and I have been busy catching up on last years Christmas photos before I have a bunch of new Christmas pictures to scrap! I am loving the Teresa Collins Santa's List range of papers and embellishments, the colours are nice and neutral - red, white, black and kraft, perfect to mix and match for all the Christmas photos!

My first share for today is, Bubble Santa, using papers, sticker accessories and enamel dots from the Teresa Collins Santa's List range, a 2Crafty chipboard tree, thickers, Heidi Swapp ephemera, a flair button and a silver doily from a christmas shop.

Some close ups:

The Christmas Tree I have inked in silver versacolour, then gone over the body of the tree with silver stickles - love a bit of glitter for Christmas!! I have fussy cut the triangle strip from the row of diamonds on the Santa's List Santa Paper and used it as a border strip.

On this side I have layeres sticker accessories sheet, the Merry Christmas from the Heidi Swapp ephemera pack and a flair button over the top of a journal tag from the Santa's list papers then finished with a sprinkling of star stickers and enamel dots.

My second layout I am sharing today, is also my layout from my class at the All About Scrapbooks crop day which is held once a month in Gymea, NSW.

Santa's Watching

I have also used the Teresa Collins Santa's List papers on this layout, plus a piece of Kaisercraft paper (also called Santa's List!!),  several 2Crafty chipboard pieces, washi tape, a dollar store gold doily and stickers from Simple Stories Christmas Snap stickers.

 Some close-ups:

Santa's Watching is a 2Crafty chipboard piece that I have inked, then gone over with stickles in Xmas Red. The hat I have used gesso for the fur parts and then gone over that with stickles in Diamond. The holly piece is inked and a tiny touch of stickles. Then we made our own little button with a sticker from the Snap set with an epoxy circle over the top then edged in gold stickles.

A nice long sub title here using the great range in the snap sticker set, perfect size for a small title or subtitle and journaling! I have also added some spots of gold stickles into the centre of the snowflakes on my background paper to finish the layout off.

This layout is available as a kit, I believe there are still 2 left. If anyone is interested please email Vanessa at: mail@allaboutscrapbooks.com.au

I hope my layouts have inspired you to use this very versatile range, that will suit so many of our Christmas photos. Thank you for stopping by, Linda will be back Friday and I will see you again next week,

Fiona
